But her powers are also slowly draining the life from her, and she has no idea if she'll have the strength to stop her enemies before it's too late. JG Fahertys The Wee Folk is a perfect example of why ancient treaties with. It's up to Chloe to save the people she loves and put an end to the experiment. But Faherty is much too strong an author to allow that to happen. ![]() Sins of the Father takes him deep into Lovecraft country and when a writer ventures down that road, there is always a danger that the resulting story could become derivative. Now the Army has kidnapped her so they can recreate the experiment and build an unstoppable team of invincible soldiers. Faherty is one of my favourite modern horror authors, so when I heard about his latest - The Changeling - I had to learn more. Faherty writes great horror and explores many different facets of the genre. In this sci-fi thriller, a high school senior is the accidental target of a top-secret weapons test and afterwards she develops amazing powers, including the ability to see in the dark, look through walls, and transport herself through space and time. ![]() ![]() Struck by lightning, developing new superpowers, and pursued by a power-hungry secret military group who wants to force her into being a weapon of mass 's so not the birthday week that high school senior Chloe Olivetti was hoping for. ![]() Fledgling by nicole conway6/3/2023 ![]() ![]() I was also fascinated by his ability to communicate with his dragon, which will be explained as the story progresses. I loved watching Jae’s struggle to prove he was on the same level on his peers. He’s short, malnourished, and weak, but he’s got more than enough heart and compassion to overcome it. ![]() ![]() In this case, the underdog is an underweight half gray elf/ half human boy, Jae Broadfeather, who is physically and emotionally abused by his family, all of whom are humans.Ī chance encounter with a dragon while wandering where he doesn’t belong leads Jaevid, or Jae, to join the dragonrider academy. She has this way of drawing you in and rooting for the underdog. Which is why I’m starting with this book.įledgling by Nicole Conway is one of my all-time favorite dragonriding books ever, the first in The Dragonrider Chronicles. I myself occasionally need a break from the intense emotional turmoil characters experience in romances and instead want to dive into something fantastic and unbelievable.
